We were quite lucky that five rabbits went to their forever homes this weekend: Tess, Winnie, Dogwood, Lucy and Della!

Full Housing Set-up for Donation to IHRS

IHRS is very busy educating prospective adopters during the Easter season (Easter this year is April 12, 2009).  In exchange for a donation to IHRS, approved adopters may obtain a full housing set-up while supplies last.

A full housing set-up includes:

Cage, Expen, or NIC Grids to build your own cage (rabbit’s foster care provider can provide a recommendation)

2 litterboxes (1 for inside housing set-up, 1 for run time)

Food crock

Water crock

The minimum donation for the housing set-up is based upon how long a particular rabbit has been in foster care:

> 3 years:  $10

2-3 years:  $25

1-2 years:  $50

< 1 year:  $75

Even at the highest price, this is a considerable bargain!

House Rabbit Society Promotes February as “Adopt A Rescued Rabbit Month”

(Richmond, CA) – House Rabbit Society (HRS), an international nonprofit animal rescue and education group, joins Petfinder in celebrating February 2009 as “Adopt A Rescued Rabbit Month.”

Mary Cotter, Marketing/Education Director of the Richmond-based HRS, says that the timing of this educational effort couldn’t be better. “Promoting adoption and educating potential adopters early in the year helps to prevent the impulse purchase of bunnies a month or two later at Easter time. This, in turn, will reduce the number of rabbits relinquished to shelters.” This month, HRS volunteers will be putting in many extra hours to teach potential adopters what to expect when living with a rabbit.
