So—you finally get to go on that much needed vacation. Good for you !! You are taking a week to get away from it all—rest and relaxation. Everything is planned down to the last detail—flights, accommodations, sites, parks, restaurants, etc.

But WAIT—what about the kids?? You know—the four-legged, hariy ones. What are you going to do with them? Dogs and cats can be boarded, but what about rabbits?

The good news, there are several places/people that will take care of your rabbits while you are out of town. IHRS has a list of available services that range from individuals that come into your home, to places where your rabbits can go and stay for their own vacation. Always make sure that your rabbits have been seen by an exotic veterinarian within one year prior to ‘boarding’ them. Whether you decide to board your rabbits or use one of the services listed below, you want to ensure your care provider has current information concerning the health of your rabbits.

Below is a listing of some of the services available in the Indianapolis area – and don’t forget to mention that you are a member of IHRS (some people/places offer a discount).

The first option involves IHRS volunteers. For a contribution to IHRS, volunteers will either come to your house or keep your rabbits in their home. We have people ranging in experience, including people capable of giving shots and other medication to your rabbit if needed.

Another option is to ask your veterinarian if they have boarding available. Additionally, Jennifer Sloan and Amy Durand offer sitting services. Jennifer is a trained veterinarian assistant and Amy has worked in a veterinary office for many years doing a variety of jobs. Both of these women have provided bunny sitting services for members of IHRS.
